I am not sure if I have contributed to the topic at hand...I try and keep an even-keel. Just walking away is usually enough. I appreciate this forum and the mods who have to deal with us...so I don't want to make things difficult for either. Life goes on.

It's hard not to want to rip into every comment you see in the political forums... Especially when you are of the same political persuasion as myself...

I think it's good that there are actually people here who actually want to discuss, and not flame away.

G4scott, it's not just trying not to jump into every comment that feels hard to fight, but also trying to evade going into the Political forum altogether once you get "sucked in." Luckily, for me, I've only stayed along the edge of the funnel, meaning that I haven't tried to get involved in the discussions in the Political forum. I know, I hate clichés as well, but I use them to get my point through: It's easy for me to stay out of the political forums because I haven't developed a personal manner of reading topics. Also, there aren't too many political topics that get personal with my opinions, so I don't have enough dedication to come back to the political forums every hour to see if somebody blurted out something negative about one of my personal opinions. Back in May and June, however, I almost got sucked in, and it's absolutely not a fun feeling.

Point is: Though it's easier than trying to remove yourself from dedicated political discussions than forcing yourself out of the political funnel, counting to 10, or 20, or XL if you're from Rome, works to think about what issues have been bothering you for only a short time.

We all have to go to bed at some stage: I find that the debate continues quite nicely without me. I also find that a number of posts by people with starkly opposing views to my own have encouraged me to explore new perspectives. Isn't this the point of a forum? What's the problem? :confused:

My hours here are numbered. Student teaching starts tomorrow and next week I have class on Friday night and Saturday (for shame!) for 5 weeks. So I"ll have a 6 day week.

But I'll try and keep up as best I can :D

I guess I'm trying to say is I'll get less sucked in than normal :p

what's funny (to me, anyway) is that i had to decide if i was going to write the snippet in C++, java or php. i opted for C++, got to the output line, and started to write System.out.println().

it's been awhile since i've done any real programming and had to think really hard to remember cout.
