I recently downloaded Sound Studio (http://www.felttip.com/products/soundstudio/) , and the website says it is possible to save a file as an MP3 with a Quicktime MP3 codec. I can't seem to find a MP3 codec for Quicktime, could anyone point me in the right direction? Hope that makes sense.
Thanks in advance!

Quicktime can play MP3s as it is. But its iTunes that are the default for the MP3s.

Its in the list.
You have to purchase an MP3 encoder for Quicktime Pro. I know Divx.com sells one, however it's just easier to drag into iTunes and "Convert to MP3." You can set the bitrate in the preferences.

Thanks 7on! A little scrounging around came up with a free encoder based on LAME MP3 encoding. If anyone wants it, be sure to get/install BOTH of these:
