I am not too familiar with OS X but I believe so. I *think* it is just like on windows when you download a file a select save instead of open you get an installer package. After you install the program you no longer need the installer. I am almost positive its the same on OS X and after installing you can delete that file.

Yea, you can delete the .pkg and .dmg files after installing a program. No need to keep them

It's just an installer, feel free to delete it.
