Can anyone confirm that Tethering still works for iPhone 3G 3.1 (JB)?

The 5.1 AT&T carrier file tethering method does not work on my 3G with JB 3.1 w/ pwnage tool method.

I'm assuming you mean in a country where it's not enabled... Like USA...

If so, carrier hack no longer works in 3.1. I haven't heard anything about PDAnet or jailbroken apps. Just kidding... It does work with PDAnet.

I can tether on 3.1. You just need to add the sinfuliphone repo, then look for mms/tethering in the source. Not sure if that's the exact name of the download, but it works for me.

USA? AT&T?

Native tethering? Or is it an app?

i have an iphone 3gs jailbroken with 3.0. i just finished downloading the 3.1 custom fw, but i dont want to update if im going to lose the tether, does anyone else have a 3.1 and does the sinful iphone tether and mms still work. thank you

I just tried this on my 3GS 3.1 JB and it does not work. I guess I will continue using PdaNet...which works great by the way.

have you actually tried tethering? we can get the option but it disappears when enabling.

I downloaded the 6.0 carrier settings file and installed. Saw that I now get a new configuration page, but without instructions for how to configure I'm unable to enable tethering.

If there is a set of settings, could someone pass them on and I'll try? In the meantime I reinstalled the 5.5 ipcc.

Everyone has posted that the 3.1 firmware prevents tethering without using like PDA-Net.

I have yet to see someone on 3.1 who has actually succeeded in overcoming this.

I set it all up per the directions, did the terminal thing, etc. Started to hook it up and it appeared that it was going to work but I stopped it so I could go to sleep. I did this to my husband's phone so tonight we'll test it out.

He previously bought PDANet but prefers the ease of the tether hack. If it fails, he'll go back to PDANet and hopefully there's a new update since he used it that offers improvement.

Doesn't work. Switch apparently keeps disappearing from Settings area despite SSH'ing, Terminal'ing, installing hacked carrier file, etc.

I'd really love to know how people who claim to be able to do it - are doing it.

Went back to PDANet.

I've been looking everywhere to see what the latest updates were on getting tethering working on 3.1 but I can't seem to find a place that has any info other than it doesn't work. Didn't know if anyone on here knew of a group/person/place that is working on a fix so I could keep track of the progress and offer any help. For now I'm just sitting on 3.0.1 on my 3GS. Thanks in advance for any relevant information.
