Ok i bought a mini-dvi to dvi adapter and connected it to a dvi-d to hdmi cable and connected it to my tv. I get a picture on my tv, but how do I get sound off from my tv speakers from playing a song from my itunes or watching a youtube video?

You need to connect the audio through the headphone jack - either analog with a 3.5mm stereo plug to stereo RCA, or digital using TOSLINK optical (with the proper 3.5mm adapter).

DVI does not carry sound. So even though HDMI does, you lose any audio when you go to DVI. As the other poster mentioned, you need to use the headphone output.

is it a mini-dvi or mini display port? if it's the latter, this upcoming product from monoprice would be a good solution. i'm pretty excited about it...
