Search contact by alphabet?!

I initially thought this is 3.1 issue. I am seeing this since 3.1 last beta (I guess).

If I try to search some contact by tapping the contact initial alphabet (say d), my contacts page jumps to the top (first contact), it does not go to contacts starting with "d".

Can someone please confirm whether this is iPhone 3.1 bug or I have messed up some settings?

I have 32GB 3GS.

Really have no idea what you're talking about. My search seems to work the way it is supposed to. Perhaps, provide screenshots as to the issue you see?
