I have google the hell out of it, and found out that it does not work on macbooks, but what about mac pros with the 4870 card?
I've just ordered one, and I want to hook it up to my TV via a mini displayport to HDMI cable...

The standard for the port is strictly for video from what I understand about it.

As I read further, it is capable of supporting a digital audio signal but I don't think there are any cards out there that output the audio signal. This is very interesting.

Thanks for the answers. Guess I'll just have to go for one of those USB/mini displayport to HDMI cabels.

If you can wait a few more weeks you will get what you want.

The product was supposed to ship in August, but it looks like October now.
This cable should work in the Mac Pro as it grabs audio from the USB port and 'merges' it into the HDMI cable.
