Today I tried to "empty the trash securely". There were 73 items. After 5-8 minutes I selected "stop" because the Fan was at 5400 and the Temp was 78 degree C. This is the first time I have heard the Fan. Also, it seemed as though it was stuck trying to empty. That is when I noticed the temp/fan issue. Any thoughts?

This is pretty much normal, especially with secure empty trash when it has to write over those areas of the drive more than once. Nothing to concern yourself with I think.

It seems empty trash and permissions repair are some of the most CPU intensive non-tasks there are.
Very normal except the fan should have been rocking 6200rpm.;)

When I first read the title of this thread, I was like why would someone throw their MBA in the trash after heat issues. :o
