View Full Version : My wild guess is iMac releasing on 20 October (in Australia at least)

I've boiled down to this simple guess: the printer promotion. At the moment you buy a printer anytime before 19 October you can get a rebate. There's no coincidence that Apple releases new products when rebates expire but the date certainly coincides with "a few weeks", as well as being two days before the release of Windoze 7.
And what would it include? I guess bluray and a new design (hopefully), along with a significant spec bump because it'll be a long haul until they release the next update.
I hope I'm right lol. And I hope some Apple employee reading this won't delay the launch date by one day so they can say I'm wrong :D heeheehee... Well, if the computers do come out earlier than my guess then I can get another printer for free :)

Can't picture blu-ray very soon. At the moment there's no Intel laptop chipset to upgrade to.

I think "wild guess" doesn't deserve its own thread... Seriously there are dozens of threads about the update and nobody really knows when it's gonna happen

My view is if there is an update this side of Christmas (which TBH I'm not holding my breath for) it will just be a bit of a spec bump - no big fanfare and not worthy of a "special event". I kind of hope we see no incremental update this side of Xmas as I think the wait for a more significant iMac revision in 2010 will be extended.
Goes without saying I know nothing as well as everyone else (especially the so called "analysts" with their woolly predictions which seem to be woefully in-accurate).

I'm about to make the switch over to Mac and found this forum in an attempt to ask questions going forward and learn about the mac culture. I'm sad to say that your constant berating of people on this forum makes it not enjoyable to be around. Especially for those who are considered new to the mac family.
it appears that you are very knowledgeable, however your tact is about a -10. if you don't like the header of the thread, don't comment.

I just told my opinion about this and other this kinda threads... If you take a closer look at this forum, you'll see that most of the active members are little mad when people makes these kinda threads, especially "My guess..." threads. I just think if everyone does this kinda thread, MacRumors' server will die :p I'm sorry if you find my behaving/posting unenjoyable, but at least my post count likes these threads a lot :D
Okay. The update mainly depends on Intel. If they are ready with Arrandale (That's the new CPU family which is suitable for iMacs) in early Q4 (Oct), we'll likely see an update before 2010, because all other components are ready like 200M series from NVIDIA etc. Last week Intel said that they have started to manufacture Arrandale so without any major problems it should be ready within a month or so. I'm not saying 20th of Oct can't be the day of update but IMO it can be any on Tuesday, even the next week's.
P.S. Feel free to ask "newbie" questions, I'm glad if I can help, even PM me if you want! :apple:

Blu-Ray is not going to go to the iMac first. Also, this would seem odd to update only in Australia? Seriously...

The Mayans did - it's on their calendar a few weeks before the words "Apple iMac update". ;)

My wild guess was derived from the Australia printer rebate. I haven't checked other countries' rebates but they should be around this same period. Whatever. We'll see in about a month's time. :)

Well Played!!! On a side note, I really only want two things then the imac is perfect. 1) dual hard drives - even many laptops have this these days. 2) A slight graphics bump. I really doubt the later because the 4850 is the best card atm next to the 280m/260m - which are basically equal. Unless apple goes SLI....:p
