View Full Version : What firmware will my iphone 3G S have?

I ordered a 32GB Black iPhone 3G S from at&t last week.

the phone comes monday......

what firmware will the iPhone have on it? 3.1? 3.0? later?

i want to know because I'm so excited im getting all the proper programs and files ready to jail break my iphone for tommorow.

if it does have a later firmware....where would i go to find the offical iPhone 3G S 3.0 Update file?

time will tell or you could consult the Nostradamus writings and see if he can add anything. seriously we can only guess tomorrow you will know! :D

It is hard to say. It depends if it was made before September 9. I know this is a shot in the dark, but does your order confirmation page have the phone's serial number?

I got mine in the U.K 3 days ago from the carrier 02 direct in their shop and it came with 3.0

My wife just bought a white 16 GB 3GS, and it came with 3.0.1. YMMV.

3.0 and 3.0.1 can be jailbroken and unlocked now.

The tools to JB 3.1 will be released soon.

3.1 baseband cannot be unlocked.

Two warnings:

If anything goes wrong and phone goes into reboot mode, you will have to update to 3.1 to "fix" your phone and there is no JB currently for 3.1 (Apple is no longer signing the 3.0 and 3.0.1 IPSW's for 3GS)

3.1 update updates the baseband so if you have to restore the 3GS, you cannot unlock the phone.
