Hi Im new here and I just have one quick question. Im not sure if its a stupid one or not. I have an aluminum macbook. the original model. 2.0ghz 2gb ram etc.. and I installed windows vista ultimate on it via bootcamp. When I boot into windows and try to use the osx disc to update the drivers, no such installer walks me through it. The only thing that pops up is an installer with two options. remote osx install and dvd/cd drive sharing for a macbook air. What am I doing wrong. Thanks in advance guys. I would appreciate a prompt response.

Give people some time to respond. Anyway, what are you installing from OSX 10.5.5 disc or a 10.6 Snow Leopard disc?

1. you don't use osx disc to update the drivers.
2. sounds like you are not booted into windows when you try to use the disk

You boot into windows, then use the disk to INSTALL the drivers.
Also, leopard disk doesn't come with 64bit drivers enabled on your computer. There is a work around though.

Thanks guys. Sorry about that. I am booting in windows first. Then I insert the disc and get the same message. I have tried the snow leopard and leopard disks, both dont work for me.

Try this to install Boot Camp 3.0:

1. Insert 10.6 in the drive. If you get the DVD sharing setup just cancel out of it.
2. Go to my computer (This might be in the 'START' menu or on your desktop. Depending on how you set up the 'START' menu) this should open a window that shows your drives
2. Click on the 'D:' (It will have a name after the 'D:' I just can't remember at the this time (not at my computer) drive (don't double click it. Just click it once)
3. Go to 'File' menu and select OPEN. (this should open a window showing you the files on the disk)
4. Double click on 'BOOTCAMP' (You should now see a folder and three files)
5. Double click on 'SETUP' (This should bring up the Boot Camp 3.0 setup (it may take a minute to show up) )

This should help. If any thing is confusing let my know.

For some retarded reason the installer doesn't auto-open, even on the Snow Leopard DVD. Open Computer and right-click the DVD and choose Open. You should find a folder called Boot Camp. In it is a BootCampInstall.exe file or some such. Just double click it and you're off.
