iPod touch sleep button and off button..

hi i have a question regarding this feature. im simply wondering if i pause my song and just tap on the power button to put it to sleep.. does it consume power still... or does it act as if it was off and doesnt.
thanks for anyone that can help.

The sleep function is exactly how it sounds. It just puts your iPod in a low power state so it can quickly resume. Technically yes, it does consume power, but not enough that you'll really notice. If you really want to test it, charge your iPod, put it to sleep, and leave it for a week. You probably won't even notice a dip in the battery bar.
