Is it normal for a MacBook to overheat on a hot sunny day? Mine crashed because of heat when I was using it in the sun on a hot sunny day lol. Followed by the rest of my classes MacBooks...

Is it normal?

According to Apple (http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html), the normal environment your MacBook Pro is used in should have a temperature between 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C). If your machine was used in direct sunlight and the temp. was more than what Apple recommends, then I could see how your machine stopped working.

of couse it will get hot, what do you expect. It should not crash or mess up however.

Yes.

The thermal paste application on these is a joke. They get hot if you look at them the wrong way.

Keep it out of direct sunlight.

It was probably that blanket you draped over yourself so you could see the screen. :D

Not an "application" like a program, but when it was applied between the CPU and the heatsink...:p

My 24" iMac (aluminum, late 2008) is on a desk in front of a big window looking out over a lake. If I use it before 2pm I must lower the blinds on the window of the sun will hit the black plastic back of the computer and it will very quickly spike the temperature. Never actually measured it, but the fans blow like a jet engine and the entire case gets hot to the touch. Not good.

I would likewise recommend keeping your MacBook out of direct sunlight whenever possible. :apple:

Well I'll tell you a bit more... It wasn't in direct sunlight, me and my friends were sitting on a deck with that see through plastic roof stuff over us which made the place like a glasshouse lol and it was very hot in the middle of summer so my MacBook crashed, soon followed by my friend's MacBook's. It was funny to watch them all go together lol:D
