iPod Whoa, wtf, ipod classic problem

I have an 80GB iPod classic hooked up to my mini. Everything was fine until I got a pop-up message saying "This device has been disconnected" and I looked down and my iPod Classic just shut off and wont turn back on.

So... what the hell just happened?
