New 17" PB

So, I am writing this from my beautiful new 17" PB... wow is this thing amazing!!! I thought I was impressed with my PowerMac - sheesh! And the thing I really like is that it isn't too big. It's large, larger than most other laptops, but the thinness of it and the weight make it very portable. I couldn't think of a better laptop to go to school with in the fall! :D

PS The only annoying thing I have found so far are the pretty annoying doubletypes I am experiencing (I think I just have to get used to the keyboard) and the lack of dedicated "home" and "delete" keys on the keyboard. Oh well, a small price to pay for a great laptop.

Yep, me too. I have had my 17" PB for 18 months - and I get oohs and aahs on planes whenever I go away for work.

"Is that a new model? It's so amazingly thin - must be new technology!"
"Nope, it's 18 months old. And I don't even have to think about viruses"
"Wow, I may get one!"

I am another happy 17" user too :) too bad mine is a revision A, the new ones just have so much cool stuff!!

What do the new ones have that ours don't?

I was driving in this morning and other then the cpu and 20GB more harddrive space... not to mention 15 months... and 1/2 the L2 cache... our are still pretty damn competitive. Just think, the first gen of G5 Powerbooks will sport the first 100GB notebook harddrive... wow, that'll be cool!

Congrats on your new PB, I hope you don't find the lack of battery life as annoying as I do! :)

Thanks for all the well wishes!!! I have never been happier with a computer. Even my PM isn't this great. Glad to be joining the ranks of this elite group! :D

I've actually been using it all morning (about 3.5 hours) with light use and it still has 40% left. I am a bit confused, but happy. I hope it lasts this long all the time, but I don't think it will based on other complaints. Here's hoping.

I will bring a friends of mine with me the first day and let him take some photos.

and it was a 17''.
