View Full Version : Navigon "optimum" setting??

I finally got a chance to really use Navigon last night and I must say, a couple of times during the long drive, it made a couple of "questionable" choices. It took me off of a highway and on a side street and then back onto the highway for no apparent reason, and then tried to route me on another highway a bit later in the opposite direction of where I needed to go (I knew the area well and that would've taken me way out of the way). Does anyone here know what the difference between the optimum setting as opposed to the fastest? I would just naturally assume that getting to your destination the fastest would be "optimum".

From my tinkering, optimum is a mixture of fastest and shortest. Too make the route that is both fast (in time) and short (in distance.)

Seek and ye shall find!
From Navigon's Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/NAVIGON/51924150929) (which seems to be a reasonably reliable source of information - much better than emailing them!)
"Fast is the fastest route in time, short is the shortest route in distance and optimum is the best route between fast and short."

I am getting an Oxe8008001 error message when I'm synching the Navigon program to iTunes. Is there a solution for this?

A quick google search makes me think that you have a cracked version of Navigon, so I'd suggest buying it.

digging up old threads
how many of you set to fast and how many to optimum?

The fast/optimum/short settings makes no sense. For the same route:
Under "fastest" I get three choices:
104 miles, 1:48h
105 miles, 1:50h
103 miles, 1:49h
Under "optimum" I get these three choices:
104 miles, 1:47
105 miles, 1:50
103 miles, 1:49
Under "shortest" I get:
97 miles, 2:01
101 miles, 2:08
98 miles, 1:36
Note the last choice. Clearly this is the fastest and very close to the shortest. So why doesn't it show up under "optimum"? And why doesn't it show up under "fastest"?

how realistic is it? have you driven that route? ... i find that shortest is by far least accurate on time
