What is the difference between unlocking your iphone and jailbreaking it? My 2g iphone is unlocked and i can recieve service on it but it says it isnt activated. Does that mean my phone isnt jailbroken? how can i fix this?

Unlocking allows you to use the phone on other carriers. Jailbreaking allows you to have 3rd Party Applications.
Also, please do not use such large text next time.

NNNNNINJAD.
Unlock = insert another sim card for another carrier (t-mobile, etc.)
Jailbreak = ability to install custom things to your phone (requires cydia on your phone.)

I suggest you use google to do some reading/research about jailbreaking and unlocking.
There is a wealth of information out there at your fingertips :(

Yes, and I refer to my previous post.
You should try to help yourself a little bit, then ask for help here if you get stuck.
It's obvious you haven't read the first thing about these.

Jeez.
Go to iclarified and you'll find all you need to know. You can also go to the sticky:

There's also a multitude of threads on unlocking and jailbreaking. Just do some reading and then post when you need help.

Who cares. Stick to the OP and don't worry about it. Go to iclarified.com and you'll find tutorials on what you need.

Because it is rude. Almost as bad as using all-caps.
The answer to your question is to run redsn0w to hacktivate your phone. iClarified has tutorials. The procedure is the same as a new jailbreak.

How did you end up with an unlocked iPhone if you don't know the difference between unlocking and jailbreaking?
EDIT: I fixed your font size problem.
