It is the Western Digital My Book 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive and now I have seen the same thing but it is the Mac Edition. Can I use it on my new MBP when I get it even though it is not the Mac Edition ??
If it is formatted to NTFS then your mac will have some problems writing to it. If thats the case you can download third party plugins which allow it too work, such as Paragon.
Yes, it'll work. You just have to reformat it with Disk Utility to HFS+ or create a partition for Mac if you want to use it with both Mac and PC. Also there are 3rd party apps for OS X that lets you to read and write NTFS formatted HDs

It's likely a NTFS formatted so you need NTFS-3G to read and write NTFS format in OS X. It should be found in Disk Utility but it won't mount because it's NTFS
