avi to TV?

I got an avi file that I want to watch on the TV (using my DVD player a Toshiba SD220) what software should I use to convert it to a readable format? I have a DVD+-RW in my mac.

thanksAmazing. The issue is not your medium, its your file format. DVD video uses MPEG-2. iMovie imports AVI just fine. I presume that this is because I have the DivX codec installed, but it does work. You should be able to take it from there.
