I'm running my PowerBook as it came from the factory. I'd like to create a new partition to install Tiger to play with it. Since switching two years ago, I've never had a reason to create a new partition so therefore I'm a little unfamiliar with it exactly how it's done.

I know that in order to create a new partition I must boot from my Panther install disk and go into disk utility and create the new partition. However, will this wipe out my current OS & data on this partition or simply reduce the size of it? Installing Tiger is not that important if I have to do a complete backup and reinstall of Panther.

Duff-Man says....there are now 2 utilities that will let you partition "non-destructively" - iPartition (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23828) and Volumeworks (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23512) but it is still HIGHLY recommended that you backup before using them. I would suspect that a legit developer with a legit copy of Tiger would know all about partitoning though.......oh yeah!

As a developer, don't you have a special Mac to run your betas on?
