I don't use mail but i have it setup for emergency use. I use Thunderbird. but every day or so I find mail up and running. I use command q and close it down then I find it up again. I don't reboot most of the time just put my mini to sleep. I don't have mail set to open on boot and it is not on the dock.

Have you checked Mail's preferences to see if it is set to be the default email reader and default RSS reader?

Weird. I have exactly the same problem.

I use Entourage, and have never set up Mail.

But, Mail keeps starting, a few times a day, and wants to create an email account.

I was actually wondering if it's some spam applet, which found its way to my Mac, and is attempting to send emails out. But most probably, it's something from Apple... 😀

Anyone with any ideas how to kill Mail for good?
