View Full Version : Did iTunes 9 break ringtone trick?

I tried to make some ringtones for my iPhone last night and after clipping the track and saving a copy to my desktop as .m4r when I tried to drag the file back into iTunes it appeared as though iTunes acknowledged the file, but it wouldn't show up in my ringtone list.

I even found the ringtones folder via Finder and copied the .m4r file there and it wouldn't work. The file is there, but not in my ringtone list or on my iPhone.

I'm assuming Apple caught on to the trick and somehow disabled it.:(

Can anyone tell me how to downgrade my iTunes to the previous version? Thanks!

No reason to downgrade. The ringtone trick still work for 9

How? Did I do something wrong? I encode using 320kbps MP3, do I need to convert the song clip to .m4a before I rename to .m4r? That's the only thing I can think of that would prevent the trick from working, although I don't know exactly how that would be.
