Apologies for linking to another site, but thought wis good news and means hope for us iPhoen £GS (3.1 out of the box) owners...

Just have to wait now and hope he can deliver (again)

The article states that he managed to find a new exploit, which is not true. It is the same exploit. He also didn't say that it will work for "all versions ever".

Ooh, an ETA of 2 days 2 days ago would make that tonight over here. I do hope so. Luckily for me though, just because I want to, and not that I need to.

I want to customise my phone, as the HTC Hero is turning my head, and I am sick of the bastardisation Apple have enforced upon us, i.e. not being able to set my phone up how I want it.

Once I can do what I like, I will be content again, as I will be safe in the knowledge that I have the best mobile phone out there!

Not looking good! Check the news site I linked a few posts ago. Looks like they've had a big ruck and geohot has said he's not going to release a break :"(

Why is Geohot working on a 3.1 jailbreak if the Dev Team already released their tool that does it....? Thanks

The current jailbreak does not currently work on OTB (Out of the Box) 3GS if it has 3.1 on it. This will fix that.

If you read the tweets, if I understand them, he is struggling to get this to work.

So, those of you holding your breath and banking on his 2 day promise, take a few deep breaths.

We shall see.

Edit: As I predicted -----> From GeoHot's twitter -----> i'm sorry to say the release won't be tonight though, still got 4 more devices to make it work on...and a little remaining problem with ipt3

See how step one goes then we can figure out how step two goes. ;)

I know what you mean! I've only usually paid attention when the products were actually released, but have recently been following the tweets and blogs of several of these guys. The phrase that keeps coming to mind is "Who's on 1st?" LOL

Can someone give a brief update of the different products/developers that are "in play" at the moment? BTW, it's been fascinating to see Geohot's tweets. It'd be fun to actually watch someone like that work!

They are all working on a jailbreak (not unlock) for devices updated to or on 3.1 OOTB.

Either 3 or perhaps 4 persons/teams all working toward same goal (one team may not be serious, just playing a mind game looking for their 15 minutes of fame)

I can't wait until it's out...

I recently just switched from Verizon to AT&T for the iPhone and I'm eager to JB my first iPhone and check out some of the Cydia apps!!!

GeoHot claimed his would be done in 2 days, start to finish, but now he is running into difficulties. It's already been 3 days.... and will likely be at least several more.
