Hello,
First post, here. Unreal how great of a watering hole this place is!
I have a Samsung SC-D365 video camera that does not work with my Mac.
Is there a converter I can get that will allow me to upload video into my Mac so I can edit it, using iMovie?
If not a converter, is there ANYWAY I can get it to my computer so I can edit my footage?
Thanks so much for your input.
Willie

Would this do the trick?

Anyone!? I'm desperate!
Thanks again. :D

That Roxio device you linked to is an analog-to-digital converter. Your video is already digital.
What's the exact problem with your camcorder and your Mac? Is it a format issue, or does your Mac not recognize your camcorder? Is it one of those USB miniDV camcorders?

Spice,
Thanks so much for the help.
My camcorder is a Samsung Digital SC-D365. When I connect it to the computer via firewire and the DV outlet, my Mac does not recognize it.
As far as formats, I am not sure what you mean. Perhaps this could be the problem?
Thanks again, very much.

when you go to "about this mac" and then "more info" or something like that, what does firewire says. Does it recognizes anything? (make sure your camera is on).
Did you connect it to iMovie proper? So put the camera on and put it on playback mode. Does it still doesn't recognize the camera.

Yes, I've tried all of those.
Not quite sure what's up. Extremely disheartening.
There has got to be a way, doesn't there?

Nope. Sometimes there isn't a way; well that's wrong. It depends how desperate you are.
the only things i can think of.
Borrow a friends Firewire DV camera?
Buy a second hand camera or tape deck?
Use the software that came with the cam, or something else (on windows) burn disk, rip disk Voila?
Good luck
