Jailbreak 3GS on 3.1. Is this it...?

On on a j/b'd 3GS running 3.0 now. Are these the steps for getting to jailbroken 3.1?

1. Download a custom 3.1 .ipsw that's been jailbroken (since I'm on Windows).
2. Do SHIFT + Update in Itunes to install it.
3. Done?

How about some of the things I've seen/read about certain apps like cydia/winterboard not quite working on this version yet?

Cyntac does not crash the phone anymore. Mobile substrate update fixed that.

I'm in the same pickle.. no mac so no JB 3.1 yet.

How is cydia treating your phone?


Cydia is working great. My phone was totally wiped after the install...I mean totally. It kinda pissed me off cause the original jailbreak didn't do that. So I was in Cydia and AppStore all night getting all my stuff back.

You are welcome! I did backup cause I had literally lost all my data and I was not prepared for that. My last backup was that very day, so I went for it. All is good.

Nope lost mine. I didnt even fool with the custom ipcc that was floating around. I simply did the att carrier update. MMS works...that's all I care about. Wanna tether...I use "Mywi".

Any difference between SHIFT + RESTORE and SHIFT + UPDATE? They both seem to bring up the same window to browse for an .ipsw or .ipcc file.

I have one too. I have the same 32G 3gs and I have cydia and icy both on it. I also know the ins and outs of getting this loaded. Seems there are a few tricks they don't tell you.
