US film studio New Line is planning a follow-up to the 1983 comedy National Lampoon's Vacation, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The film will focus on Rusty Griswold, the son of Chevy Chase's character and now a father in his own right, planning his own family road trip.
Chase could return as grandfather Clark, though no deal is yet in place.
Shanghai Knights and Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin is reportedly attached to the project.
In the original film, Chase played a parent intent on taking his family across country to the Walley World amusement park. BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8294591.stm).

Ah cool, I saw National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 on TV and I laughed all the way through! So much better than the new parody films (Epic Movie is more like Epic Fail).

Dear god why???? Hollywood always does this. They take an excellent classic, either remake it or do a sequel, and it is complete crap and disgraces the name of the original.

Please no. Has there been a funny Lampoon since Christmas Vacation? Leave the Griswalds in peace.
I do suppose it could be worse - they could be doing a remake...

Just watched ‘Vacation’ this weekend. Love that movie. Although I still think ‘Christmas Vacation’ is the best.

This is going to be interesting... It has both fail and win on it...

Then NL Vacation series just goes from a trilogy to an anthology--still none of the flicks (even the Van Wilder ones) are as funny as Animal House.

I liked the christmas vacation one. Tried watching the euro-vacation one but could not get past 5 minutes of its horribleness.

I thought Vegas Vacation was excellent.

If that comes to fruition with a great script and decent cast, that'll be great. Hard to beat the best of 'em, Christmas Vacation, but we'll see. :)
I'm still wondering if perhaps Randy Quaid might have a role in this? He could probably masterly pull off a sketch involving him skipping out of the state on unpaid hotel bills. :D
