iPod iPod classic iTunes tagging?

So I was browsing around some of the links apple gives out about FAQs, and I stumbled upon this.

Only iPod classic and the third-generation iPod nano are currently Tagging compatible.

Does this mean that the iPod classic (when connected to the radio remote) can tag songs like the nano? And why does it say third generation nano?
If this has already been discussed, mods feel free to erase the thread.
