No, it isn't. My brother's is practically silent...

Where did you get it from? :confused:

Is it used? Is it a refurbished unit? How was it shipped? What was the condition of the packaging, was it damaged in shipment?
So many questions.

It goes loud when the plastic airflow guide is out or is not seated properly. Try taking the side panel off and removing and then putting back in the plastic cover.

When the cover is out there is a red light that comes on on the left near the front. If this light is on then the G5 may think the cover is not present even if it is. There is a sensor.
