Yeah I know no one has a crystal ball but what do you think, will the next iMacs have the aluminum back like the 24 inch display or will it retain a plastic back?

I imagine they keep the plastic.

I sure hope it does, the cheap feeling black plastic has always bugged me. Al all around and chrome apple logo on both sides, please.

I aways wonder if the people complaining about the black iMac back have their computers the facing the correct way around ... or maybe they work in an office and want to use their neighbouring co-workers computer as a mirror to check their make-up. ;)

pretty sure the reason for the plastic is also for wifi performance

I think it depends if you have your iMac sitting on your desk where you can see the back of it.

I wrapped mine in Aluminum Foil. Very classy and very Cool.
Also, I al looking at getting the Gold Foil Sheets one day and using them.
With the Aluminum Foil, you have a shiny back, a dull back, or even a "crinkle" back. the options are up to you. And with the Holidays approaching, they usually offer color foils, that will help you rock the iMac with style.

I felt like a big quality jump before the white MB and the new unibody one. So I am pretty confident to have something even better with the iMac. Steve is quite good at thinking "out-of-the-box" and he could surprise us one more time.

most likely not, you have to consider the wireless interface of the iMac
Airport / WiFi
Bluetooth
If you were to use 100% aluminum it would compromise the signal.
The MacBook Pro, for instance, I am pretty sure it has a small section underneath the black bezel for the receiver for WiFi and Bluetooth....maybe...

Unless they copy the MBP design with the wifi and bluetooth antenna in the screen bezel, I wouldn't count on it.

As others have said, it depends on where Apple puts the Wi-Fi antenna.
