extending display to 2nd monitor on iMac 1.83

Hi,

I have a iMac 1.83 GHz and wants to connect another monitor having VGA port.

How can i go about doing it?
This machine has mini DVI port, Can i use a mini DVI to VGA connector and extend the display?
