I got a new Gromacs unit called p264_ch3oh. The Folding program started and then the whole system crashed:

Does Apple provide free updates to fix kernel problems?

Running Software Update will get you all the fixes Apple has.
Make sure that you've repaired permissions on the drive.

I repaired the permissions recently; Software Update keeps pushing iPod and iSight updates, products that I don't use. Does Apple provide kernel updates through Software Update? :p

Are you using decent memory? I had all sorts of problems with F@H when using cheap memory.

It's a DIMM of whatever Apple installed in the bank, which will hopefully get a Crucial upgrade soon.

Have you overclocked your mac? Folding doesn't like overclocked machines!

Any newly installed OS? What's your setup, what computer do you have?
I have never been able to take down a Mac because of folding, but there is always a first for everything.

Any newly installed OS?
No, only Apple's OS 10.2.8 on a PowerMac G4 almost the way Apple shipped it. I've had more kernel panics and freezes than I expected from a Unix system. Also getting annoying are those error messages about how an application "has unexpectedly quit" after the OS fails to keep the application running. Maybe I should call AppleCare. :D

I would definately call apple as soon as possible.. i've only gotten 2 KP's, and they were when my 120mm fan's power cable came undone. I've been folding for over a month 24/7 without a problem.. and it's summer in LA, and yesterday when I got home, my weather station said it was 92 degrees in my room.

Just delete that protein. I had that the same WU number on my PC and I sent it to my mac to finish (luckily I backed up at 90% or 200 points or so) and it crashed F@H (not OS X). It must be the specific WU is bad on macs.
