Seems too late for them to announce an event for next tuesday. And web server updates don't happen on a friday at midday..

Never seen them go down on a Friday... with the extended delivery times on Mini's and iMacs (going to 5 days in Europe now), I'm very curious what they have in store. With no event, it's a real mystery...

I've never actually been excited like this before for the store being down..During the keynotes you know something is going to be released (unless it was lame macworld last year! Lol) But this just comes outta nowhere!

I get a time out notice when I try to load the store. I thought when the intentionally take it down, you get 'back soon' page.

I wonder if they are not haveing techincal problems.

I disagree - that thread is about a "leaked ad" hinting at new devices, discovered early this month. This thread is about the apple store being down NOW. While there is some intersection in topic, I don't think one is better than the other.

well considering we're already 1 mth into this quarter its not unlike Apple to sweeten their deals a lil' bit. They report earnings after trading hours Monday!

PS: Need advice on CoreDuo MacBook 13" White ... specifically the GMA 950 chipset ... anyone have slow issues with iMovie movie creations or conversions from AVI to mp4/mov file format?? Is it sufficient for Tiger's iMovie? Please PM me FAST I'm on the verge for going BROKE and purchasing one of these!!

so it's been down for more than an hour now. Has anyone realized that, or are we still mesmerized by hitting command-R. Maybe it's maintenance or server problems if it's down this long, without a complementing keynote.

You would think they would release something today given the reports that they might not hit their expected iPhone sales for the quarter. Some sort of product change/update would be nice going into the earnings release and may take some of the focus off of the iPhone sales numbers.

I could be wrong but I doubt they would purposely take down the store on a Friday afternoon. Either they are updating something or are having unplanned issues. Friday afternoons I would imagine is a busy shopping time for the online store. People get paid, weekend is coming up etc. etc..
