cheaper new imac?

so i saw the cnet applebyte, and brian said that the new imac line is suppose to be "cheaper"

and so far, all the rumors that i've heard were saying that it'll be more expensive.

SO, i'm debating weather i should just buy one now, or wait it out.
because I wouldn't wanna have to pay double the price for the same specs and everything else when the new one comes out.

please let me know if you know anything about the price in US $$

Nobody knows for sure.. Either take your chances, or wait & see like the rest of us ;)

Apple will certainly not increase the prices, especially in this economy. The worst they can do is keep the current prices and up the specs. Other than that, most rumors say the iMacs will be having a price drop.

even though they don't drop the price for new models, current imac will become older and cheaper as apple would like to clear them off, if there's any left. or you could always check the refurbished store:)

Yeah I figured that too but here is the thing. They lowered their prices on most of their new models that came out after 2008

I think it's likely they will offer a top-of-the-line iMac with a quad core, an LED panel in stead of LCD, and a better video "card". They will also offer several bottom-of-the-line iMacs with LCD's, lesser video "cards" and Core2 Duo processors. All will be in a new, slimmer design. Just a guess.

The problem is that is will require two very different production models because the Core 2 Duo and Core i7 architectures are so different, not to mention the LED and LCD (LED can be thinner).

Apple will move completely to LED with the next refresh, and I really am banking on them going with the Clarksfield Core i7 chips. There is no reason to keep Core 2 Duo anymore given the Turbo Boost that comes with the Nehalem chips.
