So I just got a 2g iPhone for free and it's
stuck in recovery mode... I searched and
nothing really helped me that I found... Anyway to get it outta recovery mode?

Plug it into iTunes.

And just for edumacational purposes, it's a 2.5G phone. I find it easier to refer to it as a "first gen".

After a little research on Google, it looks like Error 28 is a common issue with first gen iPhones running 3.0 and above.

If you haven't yet, attempt a DFU restore (screen is black, no "USB to iTunes" logo). If that doesn't work for you, set up an appointment at a genius bar and see if they can do anything for you.
