AppleInsider notes (http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/10/20/sources_reveal_part_of_apples_new_mac_product_lineup.html) a forum post (http://forums.appleinsider.com/showthread.php?t=103982) from a source who has provided accurate information to both AppleInsider and MacRumors in the past claiming forthcoming product introductions from Apple. Apple's online stores are currently offline for updates.
The claimed introductions so far include three models of the Mac mini with one lacking an optical disc drive, a 21.5" iMac possibly carrying a widescreen 16:9 display, and updated AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule models.MC207LL/A - K84 BEST BTR- USA

Thats what I'm hoping. Just got a new MacBook Pro. Would love a "Magic Mouse" to replace my Mighty Mouse for home use (assuming it is as described, not gonna buy it sight unseen). Wondering why there is only one. Hoping they make both a Wireless and Wired, instead of waiting months (or was it over a year?) for the Wireless Mighty Mouse to come out.

the 21.5 inch widescreen imac has me worried, i want a 24 inch imac and while i am not against 16x9 i hope they aren't going to standardize the imac around a single standard widescreen between the old 20 and 24 inch sizes. that would be bad. why is their no sku for a larger than 21.5 imac?

Current AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule models feature this, which lets them broadcast at the 2.4ghz and 5ghz band at the same time.

Forget HDMI. The connector is too big. The computer industry seems to be switching to DisplayPort instead, and Apple is using mini-DisplayPort (same connector pinout AFAIK, but smaller connector).

Simultaneous dual band would be great - you could have a 2.4Ghz G and 5Ghz N networks, keep them separate, etc.
The ATI 4670 is about the same as the Nvidia 240M mobile GPU, so its very good (about 3-5x the performance of the 9400M).

I’m trying not get too excited because if these were major updates they would have held an event — even if it was just at Cupertino.
Maybe they didn't want to force journalists and the media to cover another event? Between money and carbon footprint of flying media from all over the country to San Jose to attend an Apple event for a few hours and then fly home.
I thought that maybe Steve or whoever could do a pre-recorded video (essentially the keynote minus audience - or just audience of Apple staff), and then put it on the internet.

I am in the same boat as you.
Sadly, I speculate they simply fixed the issues which are causing them to die at around 18 months. (Which will be tragic if Apple doesn't come clean on the hardware issues with Time Capsule--which they won't.)
Lets hope there are some fun updates...so we can get over Apple sneaking past a hardware recall.

I just bought my mac mini 2 months ago! 2.53? Wow that would be really nice! Why do you think no optical drive? Just so they could fit in 1 TB?
Haven't you read that there is a mini server expected? what else would you think this is? There are a LOT of mini's used as servers and the opitcal drive is just a waste and added expense to those people who have racks of mini's configured as servers. Don't expect the size to change if the omit the optical drive as it is more of a cost savings than a model refresh.

The only explanation is that they do it on purpose. To build excitement and get dorks like you and me excited, talking, and spreading the excitement to the rest of the world online.
That's the only reason I would think they'd take this long to make a simple update online, and turn off the rest of the store in the mean time.

I just went to the US online store and got the infamous "We are busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly"......
Do newbies read? No? Then I hit you with my pimp cane!

just read 9t05 and they had specs for new machines, then the article disappeared when I clicked on it, and refreshed the home page.
21.5" widescreen iMac was as far as I got...
It says that on the first post in this thread. :D

There needs to be an option through apple to be notified by text when the apple store goes down and then when it comes back up.

I still don't understand why it takes Apple so long to update its store. I mean, it could update all its pages offline (like last night, early this morning, or whenever) and then do a shutdown/copy/startup bounce to update the online store almost instantly.
Surely this shouldn't take hours to accomplish.
they need some sort of entertainment as they read all our helpless posts of nervous anticipation

They are taking so long until we all cry.
How many of us are sitting here and thinking about our bank accounts... I know this wait always makes me think of how much I could spend on what.
Sad thing is that I have a 24 hr wait rule before I buy anything over $25. During that time, I can usually talk myself out of buying most things.
Note: I'm typing this on a 2.5Ghz Early 2008 MBP. My plans do not work all the time.

I've looked at that "We'll be back soon" page so many times now, I think I'll just call them.
Apple: "Hello, Apple Store, how can we help you?"
Me: "I'd like to buy something please."
Apple: "....ok, did you have anything specific in mind?"
Me: "Sure. New stuff. Do you mind just hanging on there while I hum elevator music to you, your site should be back shortly.. Laaaa de daaaa laaa laaa..."
