JB'd unlocked 3.0.1 to JB'd unlocked 3.1.2

okay it gets more confused as i read more and more threads about this...so i decided to ask.

currently my iphone 3G has been JB'd and Unlocked at 3.0.1 firmware(T-mobile).
since i have no mms and battery drain problem(not strong but yea i have).
i have jb'd it via redsn0w on windows xp. if i required mac to upgrade the firmware i can easily go to computer lab in the school and get mac to do it.
so my questions are:
1.) 3.1.2 fixed the battery problem???
2.) i only have winterboard and cydia and bunch of apps from apple appstore
will i lost any of them?
3.) after upgrade do i need to unlocked the phone again with ultrasn0w?
4.) i dont need to worry about baseband right?
5.) what else i will get besides mms?
6.) how to do it?

1.) 3.1.2 fixed the battery problem??? Yes and no, some say their battery life is better, others have issues. Sometimes you need to restore back to official Apple firmware, set up as new to get rid of JB problems, then re-JB, set up as new

will i lost any of them? You won't loose anything from the App Store (be sure and Sync/backup before installing different firmware) You will loose Winterboard, but Cydia will be re-installed
3.) after upgrade do i need to unlocked the phone again with ultrasn0w? Yes, if you need it unlocked you will
4.) i dont need to worry about baseband right? Pwnage Tool will not update your baseband
5.) what else i will get besides mms? Not much except some App Store apps now require 3.1 or higher to work
6.) how to do it? Go to iClarified and get a tutorial for 3G for a JB to 3.1.2

When you build the custom restore IPSW, make sure you check activate phone as I believe you use T-mobile, Use expert mode, 3G is phone icon on the far right (also it's for 3GS), only include Cydia, OpenSSH and OpenSSL, not Icy, in your IPSW (nothing else), WHen asked if pwned before say no.

Since you have a 3G I strongly recommend you restore to official Apple 3.0 firmware and choose set up as new phone to get rid of all JB issues, then use PT to build your IPSW then use iTunes to install it.

Make sure and option + click update and choose the custom IPSW not the Official IPSW or you will lock your phone.

I think dhlizard's instructions are only for if you have a mac. If you have a pc then it's shift+restore (or shift + update... this means hold down the shift key and click update, this will give you the option to select your firmware). Custom firmwares can only be made with macs, so you'd have to get a friend to make it for you, or there's a thread on here somewhere with a link to a whole bunch of custom ISPWs that you could use.

And YES you do need to worry about the baseband. Do not update it or you cannot unlock.

Option + update lets you browse for an IPSW. If you just click update, you can't browse.

You only need to make a custom IPSW for the JB when you are ready (PT and it requires a Mac)

Download the official Apple 3.0 IPSW (Use google to find it, get it from a reputable site) Here is a guide, there are many others, Use google

Also, as a hint to you, save all these official Apple IPSW's and those you make with PT as you never know when you might need them again. Just store them in your documents folder or wherever.

Hello, searching everyday after a solution without finding anything Ive tried almost everything i think. I always wait a long time to upgrade to see if there are any bugs I want to avoid dealing with. Like 3.1. SO glad I didn't rush that one. Everything is fine for me on 3.0, plus it's such a pain in the ass to re-organize all my stuff / apps / cydia apps.

MMS is official with AT&T since Sept 25th

The biggest JB issue with 3.1 and 3.1.2 is excessive battery drop.

If you get it, you have to restore to official Apple IPSW, then re-JB.

To avoid issues like this always choose set up as new.

i think he knows that im a tmo........hmmmm what part you dont like that he adivised to me? so it is better to just wait????hmmmmm cause i want to have the video recoding and zoom thing for the iphone on my iphone too....im currently using cycorder and no zoom on mine.....haha...:confused:

my phone has resorted back to original owner name, so I am unable to move my music from itunes to my phone. However I am able to download apps it still recognizes my login info. How do I remove old owner name and get mine back on there?

Should I update to 3.1.2 Firmware or will it reset my phone?

i strongly doubt that upgrade to 3.1.2 will fix ur problem....dont do it...but i dont know what to do with ur phone tho...
