Either Seattle or Kona...
I was approached by a client asking for help saving photo files onto DVD-RAM discs in an older G4 (Sawtooth or Gigabit Ethernet). I have used the drive on this machine in the past, to import files, but as far as I know it has never been used to record DVD-RAM media (what a waste, considering she bought it new in 1999). She has two Memorex 4.7 GB Type 2 DVD-RAM discs (rewritable, single-sided, disc removable), but when they are placed into the tray and inserted, they go in, spin around for awhile, then eject. No icon on the Desktop, nothing. I have tried several times, both in OS X and OS 9 (not classic). After doing a little research on line I came across this support list from Apple:

"Single-sided 2.6 gigabyte (GB) DVD-RAM Type 1 cartridge (disc not removable) and Type 2 cartridge (disc removable)
Double-sided 5.2 GB DVD-RAM Type 1 cartridge (disc not removable)
Single-sided 4.7 GB DVD-RAM Type 1 and Type 2 cartridge (Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) only)
Double-sided 9.4 GB DVD-RAM Type 1 and Type 2 cartridge (Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) only)"

I also found this thread on another MUG board:

but it is over a year old and I don't really know if it is still active...
This all seems to contradict what Apple Developers Connection says here:

http://developer.apple.com/document...h_CPUs-G4/Original_PowerMac_G4/G4Rev2-50.html

I also saw somewhere that a guy had to remove the disc from the case...but I don't want to break this lady's case if I don't have to.
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.
