help with mac the ripper then handbrake

So I have been using Handbrake for months encoding my dvd's to .m4v blah blah blah. The problem is that i am getting more and more impatient.

I finally decided to try mac the ripper and rip the entire disk first then use hanbrake to encode a huge queue. Then when I went to handbrake I did the same procedure except picked the Video_TS_1.1 from the file on my computer that mac the ripper just put there.

When I do this it only comes up as a 1 chapter title that is not the full feature length film. It's like 17 minutes or something. I used to do it this way on handbrake straight from the dvd and it came up as a 2h34m17s title and however many chapters, etc...

How do I extract the correct file. I am a little confused here obviously.

First I did just the title. Then I tried it again with the whole disk and the same thing is happening.

Can you confirm that Mac the Ripper is ripping the full movie? Open the VIDEO_TS folder and check out the vobs. Make sure the whole movie is there and that it plays back fine. Which version of MTR are you using? 2.6.6 is the latest freely available one, but it has a lot of trouble with newer discs.

In Handbrake, you want to select the VIDEO_TS folder as the source, not a specific VOB file. You can either select the VIDEO_TS folder, or the folder containing the VIDEO_TS and (possibly) AUDIO_TS folder. Then handbrake should scan the folder and populate the title pop-up menu, from which you can choose the title you would like encoded.

Right on. choosing a specific VOB is foolish in a VIDEO_TS folder. many disks are mastered where a given title spans several VOB's.

Yes I was selecting a video ts.vob file (foolishly :o)

That's what I have been doing for every other dvd rip through handbrake though and they have all been perfectly fine.

Big vote for MakeMKV as a ripper. Check it out, rips to a single mkv file that Handbrake accepts, keeps things simple.

If you're tiring of the process, take a look at this guy's thread. He's put some serious effort into automation. I haven't got it all working yet but that's probably me being dumb.
