I have just watched the Steve Note again:eek: , and i am very interested in the core audio software being used in Panther/Tiger. Is this software only available to be used in Garage Band, or is there dedicated software for this? I would really like to know

Thanks for your help.

coreaudio is a realtime plugin technology that is a bit more system-level than VST plugins. garageband is "an AU host" that can run those effects, and there are also a lot of other such hosts which can use the very same effects that your system has installed. and, if you have some pro-level AU plugins, those will work with garageband too.

coreimage and corevideo (which will be in tiger) will be pretty much the same concept but in image/video applications.

If you read the page on Core Audio (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/audio/) you can see that Logic 6 and Reason both support Core Audio.

...and basically all pro apps in osx - except protoos which has its own proprietary way of handling hardware/effects.
