No below black from Mac?

I am using a Dual 2.0 ghz G5 running 10.5.6 and hae burned off my dvd collection to some external drives. I have the computer going into the Iscan VP50 and the VP50 into the JVC RS1. I have been playing back the dvd's with the apple dvd player. I was trying to calibrate the brightness and contrast for this computer on my VP50, so I used pluge pattern on DVE dvd and I noticed that the the computer does not put out below black. Can you get below black from a mac?
