Lost my contacts

Just setup as new iPhone, and selected 'restore from backup' and iTunes seems to have lost all my contacts :(

Anyone have any ideas on if its possible to get them back?

What did you sync your contacts with before you restored from a backup? You do realize the backup does not contain your contacts, correct? You'd normally sync contacts to Outlook or Windows Address Book (Outlook is better, since it keeps photos for contacts) for a PC.
