overdrive audio playback level in itunes or qucktime?

In an old version of the quicktime player you could shift-click the volume slider and playback audio up to 200 or 300%. Is there anyway to do that in itunes or the current quicktime player?

Found the answer. Raise the level of the preamp setting on the eq.
