so i thought before i started the thread id set the record straight :P
i do download music, not often, but i do do it. regularly im a vinyl guy, i have 1200+ vinyl records, and more CDs than i can think of... i buy music regularly, and only ever download a track if i find something i like, that isnt released yet and want it on my ipod, or for the reasons which i am about to describe
also please note this is sort of a long rant, feel free to browse away from the topic now :D
here goes -
recently i was trying to buy this new EP from a DJ i like... (if your interested, it was the DJ Zinc crack house EP, but any way...) so i thought to my self, ok... lets go to beatport and try to buy it, because as some of you may know, there is a postal strike in the UK, and a lot of things just arent being delivered. . so i go to the website, make my self an account, log in, buy the track, put my card details in, and press buy. but nothing happend :/ its a flash website, and literally there was this loading sign, and then it just went back to the home page. to make matters worse, beatport charged my card, but didnt actually give me the music links. ive emailed them, but still no answer.
so that was try number 1
i then went on to juno.co.uk which is probably one of the biggest music retailers online that i use regularly. however i dont normally buy digital music from them, its normally physical purchases, but as i said, there is a strike, and it could take weeks to arrive. so i go to the digital section of their website. i log in, my card details are already there, i press buy. boom - i get a 404 error. i tried to make the purchase another 6 times. even restared my browser. nothing! luckily, they didnt charge my card.
i think we can call that try number 2!
hopped over to play.com and amazon - they didnt even have it :/
try number 3 and 4 :)
i think you get the point, especially considering that the "tries" go up to 13 :D
so my question is to you guys -
do you think its now morally ok for me to go and download the whole thing on an illegal music website?
let me know what you think :)
