I've never been able to name a favorite album before, but Clarity has become exactly that. Anyone else like them? Even heard of them?

Dude, you're asking people on a hardcore music forum if they've ever heard of Jimmy Eat World

Really, we've all heard of them, and for good reason; they ARE awesome! My friend actually is really good friends with Zach Lind.

Still, though, I haven't gotten the chance to observe them much, since I haven't been able to find any of their songs on Emusic or anything. But I'll be overjoyed when I get one :p

Haha, it was 1:00 in the morning, I meant to say has anyone ever heard of Clarity, because most stop at Bleed American, or simply know them from The Middle, or other singles. Clarity isn't quite as well known but is probably my favorite album. Ever. By any band.

Thanks for the recommendation philipt42, I really like Jimmy Eat World. I've got Bleed American, Futures & Chase This Light, but I didn't hear the albums before that including Clarity.

I'll give it a listen. Thanks!

One of my favourite albums of all time and one of the only albums I enjoy listening to straight through. If anybody likes this one they should check out the Clarity Live Tour album they released earlier this year to commemorate Clarity's 10 years.

Yes! Bought a day ticket for Reading Festival 2002 just to see Jimmy Eat World- would love to see them again sometime.

i am def. a JEW fan and like all their albums - favorite song is "No Sensitivity" by far!

JEW is awesome and this album is littered with fantastic tracks. It's cool how "raw" they sound on Clarity compared to more recent stuff but still the album being so different is a good thing. For Me This is Heaven, Lucky Denver Mint, 12.23.95, and On A Sunday are all awesome tracks. Great record. Admittedly though, Futures is my favorite JEW album and might be my favorite album of all if it weren't for Jenny, man that songs sucks and is completely out of place. Transatlanticism by Death Cab may take the cake for me as being my favorite record of all time, but I digress.

Jenny? There is no Jenny on Futures.
That might explain why it sounds out of place!:D:p

You like 12/23/95? Funny how everyone's opinions differ, that is the one song I have just not been able to get into on Clarity. (after countless listens)

I think "Jen" was a bonus track for some versions of Futures, I don't mind it but yea it is out of place on Futures and for J.E.W. in general.

I don't mind 12.23.95 but it took listening to 10x live version before I got into it but it's not among my favourites. Before that, it was the only song on Clarity I couldn't get into as well.

Yeah, it is funny how subjective everyone is with their musical tastes, but it makes sense.

And holy crap on the Jen revelation. I don't know what version of Futures I downloaded, but Nothing Wrong is not on it and Jen is. This is fantastic. Deleting Jen from my library as soon as I get home and adding Nothing Wrong.

Haha, well to me the rest of the record is a masterpiece and rollercoaster of emotions then you get hit with that first chord of Jen and it makes me cringe. It is just so horribly out of place and kept me from saying I could listen to that album the entire way through. I actually unchecked the song in iTunes, something I have only done a handful of times (christmas music during the summer and Dane Cook) haha.

Clarity is an amazing album, fav tracks are 'Goodbye Sky Harbor' and 'Lucky Denver Mint'. Never seen them live though, how are they?

Have seen them live twice, once on the 'Bleed American' Tour and once on the 'Chase This Light' tour and loved them both times.

I wrote a review of the 'Chase This Light' gig at the time: http://mog.com/John_Madden/blog/147304

(Sadly, the site's changes since then have screwed up the formatting).

Heartily recommend them as a live band.
