Removing OS9

I would like to remove OS9 from my laptop and use it strictly as an OSX machine and revert my old Beige G3 to an OS9 machine. Without thinking, I loaded a bunch of stuff onto my laptop which took me a couple hours to do so reinstalling the software isn't a viable option. If I were to just drag OS9 to the trash, would it cause any negative side effects? Anything other things I need to know?

I'm pretty sure that would remove your ability to run in Classic mode.

On my G5, the OS 9 stuff takes up less than 400MB. Do you need space that badly?
