iMac 24", 2006 model (2.33Ghz, 7600GT, 3GB RAM)

I managed to install the RC of Windows 7 on the iMac a while back, using the 32bit edition (the 64bit didn't like the EFI32 on the iMac), and everything was running fine. Of course, it all went wrong when I picked up the retail edition...

I decided to go for Home Premium and 32bit, as I'd had problems with 64bit previously. Unfortunately, total failure. I opted for a clean install & format, but the iMac will either go into a permanent reboot cycle ("Preparing Windows for the First Time") and never get to the desktop, or simply blue screen. Not impressed - the RC worked, but not the RTM?

Any ideas?

Might want to check this out

Apple's Boot Camp will not support Windows 7 on some 2006 Macs (http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/10/22/apples_boot_camp_will_not_support_windows_7_on_some_2006_macs.html)

The machine isn't listed as one of these - it's the late 2006 model 24" (ie: with a Core 2 Duo not a Core Duo).

Is this the "upgrade" or "full install" media? Have you tried deleting the entire Boot Camp partition and starting over? I've found trying to use a Boot Camp partition that previously had Vista or 7 Beta on it to be sort of wonky.

This is the full retail install media (comes with 2 discs, 32 and 64bit). I'll try deleting the BC partition now :)
