Hey guys! I'm new to web design and have noticed that a lot of the things that I'm using images for, I could do quite easily with CSS styling. So my question is: Is CSS styling better, in general, than images. Which takes longer to load? What about browser compatibility?
Thanks guys for the advice!

It's all CSS now, I know absolutely nowt mind you :p. Cross-browsers will be better in few years at the moment it's a bit of a fiddle:eek:.

CSS will definitely be faster on the download. You can just compare your CSS file size to your image size to see the difference. Depending on the specific CSS stylings, most is cross browser compatible. It also depends on how old of browsers you want to support. IE6 is the usual hurdle for compatibility when using newer CSS.
