Sorry, its my 2nd annoying thread of the night...oh well!

Anyways....

In iMovie, I can't figure out how to adjust when an effect comes in and out of the scene. I know what to do when you want the effect throughout the scene, but how about when you want it to stop halfway through? I have tried playing with those two bars on top, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm sorry for being a moron at this, but I can't figure it out. I tried the Help feature, and still nothing.

One more thing. How do I remove a effect completely, without deleting the scene?

I've got to show this video, and it needs to be fixed pronto!

Thanks! I'm enjoying The Switch :)

Make a clip out of the part you want to apply the effect to. Then highlight that clip and apply the effect.

Does that make any sense? You have to cut your footage up into itsy bitsy pieces sometimes. Command T is your friend.

Thanks!
That helped, because now the scene is split into the secton I want the effect in, and the section I don't. Unfortunatly, the effect is still in the part I don't want it. How do I delete an effect from a scene?

command-click

something like that

That only takes it to how it was, after the last save. I have the effect saved in :( . Thanks for trying though.

I've gotten rid of titles I didn't want by just updating them to read nothing. there might be a similar thing to undo an effect, but I don't think I've done it before.

Do you have a backup of your original footage? If not, you might want to consider it in the future. iMovie uses destructive editing, so once you trash a clip or apply an effect you can't undo it so if you make a big mistake the only way to fix it is to start fresh.

I love the simplicity of iMovie, and I use it for 95% of everything, but as far as editing goes, Final Cut is better. It leaves your original footage intact so you can undo anything later on.
