X Box 360 Can I ?

Can I watch any of my Itunes files on my tv via my xbox 360 ? I know i would

If they're purchased from the iTunes store then no you can't.

However, if you've ripped the movies and TV shows yourself via Handbrake (or any similar application) then you should be able to. I'm not completely sure of your set up, but as you mentioned you'll have to be on the same network as your iMac and have some type of sharing software so the 360 can see the iMac. Connect360 (http://www.nullriver.com/products/connect360) is the program and I use and its nearly flawless in my experience.

I'd also recommend trying to pick up the wireless adapter for your 360 on ebay if you can. I was able to get mine for $30 cheaper or so. You may also want to wait for the N adapter that Microsoft is coming out with shortly if that interests you.

Ok I have a MBP, what would be the best setup for connecting that to my HD Flat screen tv, it does have the pc input and after buying all the cables needed would I be at the same price almost if I just give in a buy a Apple Tv ?

What are you trying to accomplish here? Do you just want to play back media files on your TV? Plugging in your MBP would be a pain, as you would need a miniDisplayPort>HDMI adapter plus audio cables (no audio out of that display port unfortunately) which you would have to plug in each time you wanted to use it. Get an Apple Remote so you can run Front Row from your couch (if you have to get up and go to the computer each time you want to change tracks, what's the point?)

If you have media from the Apple Store then you'll want an ATV, that's the easiest option. It's one of the only devices that will play back the protected video files and the older DRM'd AAC music files. BUT, if you're just trying to play back unprotected media from computer (Divx, mp3, regular AAC, .Mov) then get the Connect 360 app to feed your XBox360. It will work, just not on Apple's copy-protected media.

ummm I dont know. I think there is some bad advice here. I connect my mbp to my hdtv all the time all you need is a dvi to hdmi cable. the picyure is great and then plug some speakers into your mbp and your all set. If you have external speakers for your mbp you're looking at a total of about $6 for the cable and you are set to go...

Do the new macbook pros have mini-display ports? because mine doesnt I just plug the dvi cable directly into it

I play all my iTunes "unprotected" media on both my ATV and my XBOX. My Video was a DVD RIP to M4V Format which is support by the XBOX. Prior to Win 7 you had to use Zune Server Software to stream it. You also need an XBOX Update to support AAC audio and MP4 Video (it prompts you).

I use a program called Playback for unprotected video files on the 360. Connect360 is often recommended, but after trying it, Rivet and Playback, I much prefer the latter.
