Recently, I spilled water on my TiBook, and it has gone to laptop heaven. The harddrive was OK, and I removed it and placed it in a USB enclosure so I can have access to the files.

My question is: Does anyone know if there is a way to mount the sparseimage that FileVault uses to encyrpt a users home directory on a different computer?

For the faint of heart, don't worry, I backed up all my important data the Friday before my fatefull spill. There are just a few files it would be nice to get back.

Thank you,

Matt

After you have housed the disk in the external caddy double click on the file to open it, it will ask you for your password. I have a copy of my home folder on an external firewire disk as I find it the easiest way to keep my work consistent between my PowerMac and iBook.

FileVault is just like any other disk image. After you mount the drive, navigate to your protected home folder and double click it. Enter your password and you're in.
